Our Work

Case Study: Plymouth Third Sector Consortium

Plymouth Third Sector Consortium (PTSC) are funded by the Cabinet Office's Capacitybuilders programme to help with the planning, commissioning and delivery of local services in the voluntary sector, amongst Plymouth's communities and groups. They wanted us to produce a website that could be developed into a resource for the organisations in the voluntary sector who need the services that they provide.

We started off by designing a refined brand identity to serve as the starting point for the website's design. Then we got stuck in with developing a members area for registered organisations so that they can add their details to the site directory, contribute to discussions with other organisations through a forum system and receive e-mail updates from the PTSC. We also built an advanced content management system that allows PTSC staff to easily manage the site's sections and contents, as well as news and events and information on support services. The whole website was developed to the WCAG-AA accessibility standard to ensure that all members of the community can access it and benefit from its resources.

The site has had a successful uptake amongst voluntary sector organisations in Plymouth and it has enabled them to engage with the PTSC and get involved with the projects that they're running. The mailing list feature has proved invaluable in helping keep members in touch with developments in the voluntary sector. We're very happy to have delivered something that has a genuine impact in helping improve our communities.

“Makitó Labs listened to our needs and got their heads around our new organisation at a time when we were setting ourselves up and doing the same thing. We always felt they were meeting our needs and not trying to put us in any one else’s box. Makitó Labs developed tools that have enabled us to inform, communicate and engage with our membership. Wider networks and stakeholders have appreciated the clear design and easy navigation of our rapidly growing and crucial tool to support the Third Sector in Plymouth.”
